Do you enjoy hiking? There are two big waterfalls that I would highly recommend hiking to if you are able. Tanalian Falls – A powerful waterfall from Kontrashabuna Lake into the Tanalian River. It is a couple-hour leisurely hike on groomed trails. Falls in Little Lake Clark, a very tall waterfall with a false cave hollowed out behind it – an afternoon hike through game trails and boulders, crossing the creek multiple times. There is another good trail on the north side of the lake that goes up to a great view overlooking the lake.

Do you enjoy fishing? The fishing here is world-class, and while we do not focus on fishing, we do provide the gear and our crew have their guide licenses. You would need to get your fishing license either in Anchorage or at the gift shop out here but it is probably easier just to purchase online and print it out. Depending on the time of year and the area of the lake we have Salmon, Lake Trout, Greyling, Arctic Char, Northern Pike, etc…

Do you enjoy kayaking or paddle boarding? We will have both available for use to explore the anchorages and little islands.

Do you enjoy bonfires on the beach? Our favorite spot is Current Creek with its huge sandy beaches and never-ending supply of wood washed down from the mountains by the river-sized creek. Kids really love the shallow sandy pools behind the beach there as they are much warmer than the lake water.

Do you just want a quiet place to enjoy the beauty in silence, drink some coffee and read a book? With the size of the Odyssey, you can easily find a quiet corner to do that too.

Do you enjoy sailing? There is a romance to sailing with the engines that can not be denied, and we will sail as much as possible, maybe more than necessary, but when the wind does not cooperate we can easily motor as well. A typical 6 night / 7 day would look something like this, We meet you at the airport. The Village of Port Alsworth consists of two parallel gravel runways with gravel driveways off of them. Give you a quick tour of the village and visit the National Park Service visitor center. Then depending on the time of day set you up for a hike to Tanalian Falls or directly to the boat.

Likely locations for anchoring each night weather and wind direction permitting,

5. Near the Islands on the North end of the lake.

Know before you go

  • Guests are responsible for their own travel to and from Port Alsworth. (we recommend Lake Clark Air, or Lake and Peninsula Airlines)
  • There are no marine services (docks, marina etc…) here. We will take you to the yacht by dinghy or our custom 17ft skiff.
  • You must be mobile enough to get in and out of a dinghy, as well as use steps to get in and out of the companionways and beds. We can assist as much as possible but want to make sure you are aware it is not just a step over from the dock.
